Aside from the upcoming Windows 8 mess I don't know what Microsoft did to piss off Valve that badly but they really poked the wrong bear! Steam is after all just a repo for games the same way Linux got repo's for everything. The logical next step is exactly to start selling all sort of software. I bet one of the first will be a productivity suite to rival Office!
